Protecting the biggest names
in the motor industry When Ford Motor Group’s leading European retailer, Polar Ford and Heartlands Ford
looked at its security arrangements on its sites, a new approach was adopted.
Traditionally manned security guarding had been the choice of motor retailers serious about
protecting their investments and sites.
A tried and tested method of protecting its investments was sought and the Group’s
Security Management Team looked at Remote Monitored CCTV for its sites.
Remote Monitored CCTV depends on a number of principal factors to succeed, the system
design, the equipment, the effective monitoring and a systems integrator that could mange
the job.
Ford went though a stringent evaluation process of integrators in the UK who could not only
take responsibility for design and delivery, but also the complex back up service required for
several sites across the country.

Polar and Heartlands Ford now have a sophisticated investment to protect their sites and
stock, and a significant cost reduction on previous security provision, the system does not
rely on the written statement of a security officer, it now has digital recorded crystal clear
images to back up and prove exactly what happened, and now many more convictions of
those who do not listen to Ford’s warning.
